Mariah Carey makes another record as Christmas ends
Every Christmas, Mariah Carey’s iconic track 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' trends
It’s not to overstate, but Mariah Carey’s song All I Want for Christmas has become a staple for the festive season.
As her record-breaking track, which she released in 1994, has extended its stay on the Billboard Hot 100.
It has now spent 22 weeks on the chart, known for judging the music’s impact. Previously, Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road held the record with Shaboozey’s A Bar Song. Mariah, however, shattered the record by spending the most weeks on the chart.
In other news, the pop icon weighed in on statements she made 22 years ago, which have since become a meme.
The 56-year-old was asked about Jennifer Lopez, whether she knew her. Her reply was, "I don't know her."
Decades later, Andy Cohen, the host of Watch What Happens Live, asked the same question to Mariah in 2016.
“Apparently, I'm forgetful,” she told the host, adding she and J. Lo have met—but does that mean they know each other?
“Like what am I supposed to say? I'm not going to put on a thing, ‘Oh, we're all Hollywood and let's just all pretend we're best friends ‘cause we're in that land.’ It's no offense to anybody," the musician added.
“It wasn’t like I don’t know who she is—of course I do. That’s not the question," Mariah concluded.
