Thomas Markle urged to focus on direct contact to rebuild relationship with Meghan
Source says Thomas Markle can repair rift with Meghan by avoiding media interference
Thomas Markle Sr. can mend his bond with his estranged daughter Meghan Markle only if he establishes direct contact with her, a source has claimed.
According to a new report by OK! Magazine, the 81-year-old, who recently had his left leg amputated due to a medical emergency, has an opportunity to rebuild his relationship with the Duchess of Sussex.
An insider told the publication that Thomas just has to change the way he communicates with Meghan.
They noted that he has long struggled with indirect contact and has often relied on emails or media intermediaries rather than speaking directly.
"Thomas has long struggled with communication channels. He prefers direct, personal contact and has always been frustrated by reliance on email or intermediaries,” the source said.
They added, “Caroline's involvement ensured the lines of communication remained open when it mattered most.
“But if he agrees with her and drops her as a friend, it could repair his shattered relationship with Meghan and change their lives forever."
Recently, while Thomas Markle was hospitalized in Philippines, he said he wanted to reconnect with Meghan.
However, the presence of his journalist friend, Caroline Graham, made things harder for the father-daughter to reconnect.
"Mr. Markle has been very clear that he wanted to hear directly from his daughter in his time of need,” a source said at the time when Meghan sent him a letter instead of coming to see him.
“The letter's handover was carefully managed, and he was conscious of maintaining his dignity throughout," they added.
In response, Meghan’s team said that the presence of a journalist had complicated private contact and was "breaching clear ethical boundaries."
"Given that a Daily Mail reporter has remained at her father's bedside throughout, broadcasting each interaction and breaching clear ethical boundaries, it has been exceedingly difficult for the Duchess to contact her father privately, despite her efforts over the past several days,” their statement read.
"With the support of reliable and trusted contacts, her correspondence is now safely in his hands.”
