Hugh Jackman has landed in trouble after he found himself facing fresh criticism following a light-hearted moment with fans which took an unexpected turn online.
The 57-year-old actor was seen serving frozen custard to fans at a cinema in Wisconsin during a screening of his new movie Song Sung Blue.
While he appeared happy and relaxed, some social media users suggested the gesture was planned for attention, saying it is a “publicity stunt.”
The backlash comes after Jackman’s recent relationship with Sutton Foster made headlines, with some fans expressing disappointment and showing support for his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness.
“The Hugh we were fans of? He never existed,” one disappointed fan wrote, per Daily Mail, while another added, “He's just another fake.”
“Come on Hugh! We know it's a bad movie,” a third penned.
Jackman parted ways with Furness in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage and debuted his new romance with Foster earlier this year.
Their romance did not sit well with Jackman's fans with reports claiming that the Hollywood stars fell for each other during the shoot of Broadway's The Music Man.
One fan wrote, "My respect for him has gone down. pfft. Team Deb. So he was all talk in the end."
"I know you can fall out of love, but I'm very disappointed in him. I really thought he was with Deb for good," another added.
