James Cameron gets honest about 'Avatar: Fire & Ash'
James Cameron draws parallels to real-world conflicts and what he shows in 'Avatar: Fire & Ash'
As Avatar: Fire & Ash is near release, James Cameron, who has directed it, shares that the movie shows the reason that fuels the real-world cycle of violence.
“That grief, loss, trauma fuels the fire of hate, and it loops endlessly," he explains while talking to Associated Press.
To drive his point home, the filmmaker gives examples from ongoing conflicts, "We see it in Ukraine, we see it in Gaza, we see it in Sudan, there’s so many things that become generational, they just propagate through time — ‘those guys hurt us, therefore we must fight back.’”
Meanwhile, critics raved about the forthcoming movie, giving overall favourable reviews to James' latest offering in the Avatar franchise.
Film critic Courtney Howard writes that the movie "reminds us what movie theaters were built for. 3 films in, James Cameron still has the sauce, making the epic spectacular feel emotionally impactful. A glorious saga. Bold, brilliant & awesome in every way, this is what movie theaters were built for.”
Another author, Sean Tajipour, pens, “Fire and Ash continues to push boundaries with every frame. I may not be the biggest ‘Avatar’ superfan, but [‘Avatar: Fire and Ash‘] proves once again that James Cameron can and will always deliver the ultimate cinematic spectacle, pushing visuals."
Avatar: Fire and Ash will arrive in theatres on Dec. 19.
