Freya Allan to follow Henry Cavill's approach on 'The Witcher'
Henry Cavill reportedly exited 'The Witcher' over a clash on staying faithful to the source material
Henry Cavill shocked fans when he announced he was quitting The Witcher, where he played Geralt of Rivia.
Reports at the time said he clashed with the series makers over staying true to the books. Now, his co-star Freya Allan, who portrays Ciri, says his decision inspired her to continue his work of faithfully adapting the source material.
“I really want to give fans what they want. I’d also seen Henry, who was so knowledgeable and loyal to the books, push for certain lines to be included. When he left, I was inspired to take on that role," she tells NME.
But what shocked Freya was the fans' reactions to season four. “The thing that’s surprised me most about season four is how many people have criticised things that are straight from the books."
The actress reveals she once considered creating a burner account on Reddit to defend the show but scrapped the idea after observing that fans were already doing it.
Elsewhere in the interview, Freya opens up about season five, which will be the show's final season. “That final season took everything out of me, but I feel so incredibly satisfied."
Season five will be the end of The Witcher, and the actress says she will choose her next project carefully. “I want to be very intentional with my next move,” Allan said. “I’d quite like a role where I’m clean.”
In the meantime, the final season is said to arrive in 2026.
