The Royal family continues to play a key role in shaping Britain’s identity, according to a former royal butler.
In an interview with GB News, Grant Harold said that when people think of the UK, they picture Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the King and Queen.
He added that today’s royals need to be relatable to connect with the public, adding that with so many social media influencers, the family has to show who they are in ways people can understand.
"When people think of the UK, the first thing they think of is the Royal Family,” Harrold said. "They think of Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the King and Queen.
"I think the Royal Family is basically what people envision. The UK is all about posh aristocracy, castles and palaces, crowns, coronets, tiaras, yeah, that's what it's to them, basically embodies what used to be Britannia.”
“Used to be that image of Britannia, the crown."
He further shared that the royals “need to be relatable. People love celebrities nowadays.
“We look up to these people for how they dress, how they act, their lifestyles, where they live and what they eat and drink.
“We have more social media influencers now so they've got to be more relatable to connect with the public.
“So they basically have to become a modern celebrity. That is what Harry was.”
