Zoe Ball addresses rare health battle: 'So frustrating'
Zoe Ball shared what helped her to battle night time struggles
Zoe Ball has opened up about her health battle.
During an episode of her Dig It podcast, which she co-hosts with Jo Whiley, Zoe Ball spoke candidly about her long struggle with insomnia while admitting she once relied heavily on sleeping tablets.
The moment came when Jo read out a question from listener Alison, who shared that she often tunes in at 3 a.m. because she can not sleep.
Alison explained she had tried “everything,” from medication and meditation apps to sleeping in a separate room from her partner.
Responding with empathy, Zoe revealed that she too has faced similar nighttime battles, and shared one change that finally helped her get consistent rest.
“Alison, darling girl, I feel your pain; that is so frustrating. I used to really struggle to sleep, and yeah, I used to take a lot of sleeping tablets,” she admitted.
“And again, you shouldn't really take those for a long period of time because, you know, they can add to your risk of dementia, but then, the worry of not being able to sleep makes you not be able to sleep.”
Zoe then offered the one thing that made a noticeable difference for her, “So, Alison, from me, something which you possibly have tried because it does sound like you might have exhausted all the avenues — once I started taking magnesium at night, I found that really helped.”
