Sir David Beckham explains why he wasn't 'nervous' about Knighthood honour by King Charles

Sir David Beckham has opened up about receiving the knighthood honour by King Charles.

Speaking with People Magazine recently, the former footballer, 55, recalled his experience. Instead of being nervous, David admitted that the experience was more "emotional" for him.

David, who shares 5 kids with wife Victoria Beckham, said, "It's been a very emotional week."

He added, "I wasn’t nervous, just emotional, as it means so much to me and my family."

This comes after the InterMiami owner received his knighthood honour on November 4, 2025 at Windsor Castle for his "services to sport and charity." In the ceremony, hosted by King Charles, David was accompanied by his wife Victoria and his parents, Ted Beckham and Sandra West.

Moreover, David Beckham had earlier expressed his gratitude for the honour on social media. Sharing photos from the ceremony on Instagram, David wrote, "I can't even begin to describe what a special day it is for me today, a boy born in East London, to receive a Knighthood from His Majesty The King."

"I am truly humbled and so grateful for this honour. I have been fortunate to represent our country and I've always done that with pride."

"I love our Royal Family and what it means to people not just in Great Britain but around the world. I could never have dreamed that this would happen to me," he added.

David Beckham, known as a global superstar for his free kicks and crossing abilities, began his professional career in 1992 with Manchester United. He retired after 21-years in May 2013 following a major win of French Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain.
