King Charles has finally distanced himself from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor by forcing him out of his Royal Lodge and blocking him and Sarah Ferguson from joining the royal family’s Christmas celebrations this year.
Speaking with Radar Online, insiders said the monarch believes the public would not accept Andrew continuing to enjoy royal privileges due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
They said, “Charles has at last decided to sever ties with Andrew entirely. It’s a harsh move, but it had to be done.”
“The public simply won’t accept him continuing a life of privilege on royal property,” the source added.
Apart from stripping Andrew of his royal titles and home, Charles has made it clear that he cannot be a part of the annual Christmas celebrations this year.
“You can’t sack someone from being your brother,” a royal source revealed. “But this year, if the duke and duchess were both to be as honorable [as last year], it would be very much for the best and the family would not be disappointed, not least to avoid the King having to make any more difficult decisions.”
Buckingham Palace released an official statement from King Charles, which said, "His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew."
"Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor," it added. "His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.
"Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.
"Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."
