Beatrice opens up about 'lonely' motherhood after Princess Kate letter
Andrew's eldest daughter Princess Beatrice makes emotional statement about 'lonely' phase of life
Princess Beatrice shed light on the struggles faced by mothers of premature children in a new statement following Catherine, the Princess of Wales's heartfelt letter, highlighting the mental health challenges of women during and after childbirth.
On the occasion of World Prematurity Day, the Princess of York opened up about the 'lonely' phase of her life when she found out that her second baby would arrive earlier than expected.
Beatrice, who is a patron of Borne, a premature birth research charity, said, "I think so often, especially as mums, we spend our lives, you know, feeling we have to be perfect to do this."
She added, "And sometimes, when you are faced with that moment of learning that your baby's going to come a bit early, it can be incredibly lonely."
Buckingham Palace announced in January 2025 that Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, welcomed their daughter Athena Elizabeth Rose.
Earlier in March, Beatrice wrote for British Vogue, sharing that nothing "quite prepares" a parent to welcome the kids early, stating, "there's so little control."
Being a part of the Borne campaign, the eldest daughter of Andrew and Sarah believes that the combined efforts will bring positive change and prove to be better for premature babies and their families.
Notably, Beatrice's emotional statement emerged after the future Queen Catherine penned a personal note to raise awareness about women facing perinatal mental illness.
