Sabrina Carpenter divided music lovers with new milestone: 'Not deserved'
Sabrina Carpenter celebrated major achievement as 'Man’s Best Friend' goes platinum
Sabrina Carpenter’s latest career milestone has fans celebrating and critics fuming.
The Espresso hitmaker’s seventh album Man’s Best Friend, has officially been certified platinum just under three months after its August 29 release.
However, instead of universal applause, the achievement has ignited a heated debate across social media.
While the Please Please Please hitmaker’s supporters flooded platforms with congratulations, praising the certification as "well-deserved" and "long overdue," not everyone shared the enthusiasm.
A wave of skeptical music lovers chimed in, accusing the industry of playing favourites.
One wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Man’s Best Friend? More like the industry’s favorite daughter," sparking a thread of favouritism accusations.
Others were far more blunt, with one writing, "Not deserved," another followed with, "The worst album in existence getting certified platinum."
A third added, "These teenagers’ music taste sucks!"
Some even questioned the numbers altogether, with one confused netizen commenting, "BUT I HEARD THAT IT FLOPPED [gasping emoji]."
Although some netizens don’t agree, the platinum status is real, adding more charm to Carpenter’s rapidly rising fame.
The achievement comes as the Grammy winning singer is busy on her Short n’ Sweet Tour, which is now just six shows away from completion.
Man’s Best Friend is the 26-year-old’s seventh album, which was released a few months after her sixth album Short n’ Sweet.
