China’s Aridge in a recent breakthrough has launched trial production at the world’s first intelligent flying car factory located in Guangzhou.
The facility which is 120,000-square-meter wide has successfully produced its first detachable eVTOL aircraft for the modular “Land Aircraft Carrier”, making major strides in commercializing next-gen transport.
According to Zhang Xuehui, the company's brand communications director "XPENG Aridge aims to begin mass production and delivery of its flying car in 2026.”
“The Guangzhou plant is now in the trial production stage — we haven't yet begun full-scale manufacturing, as we'll need to obtain both airworthiness certification and production qualification before official mass production starts,” she added.
The facility is equipped with an annual capacity of 10,000 aircraft modules. Once fully operational, the facility can assemble one aircraft every 30 minutes.
The flying vehicle consists of a detachable eVTOL aircraft and six-wheel mothership. It also features both manual and automatic flight modes, including one-touch landing and takeoff.
In the trial, the focus will be given on equipment and flight testing, performance verification, and prototypes production prior to initiating mass production.
The flying car is meant to serve both individuals and potential public-service scenarios, as per company’s details.
