Hollywood to film first movie in space with real NASA astronaut onboard
NASA’s Scott Kelly to guide script for Hollywood’s space drama ‘I See You’
Hollywood is moving beyond Earth into space and this time not in a science fiction movie but in reality.
Romantic space drama I See You being produced by Italian producer Andrea lervolino is all set to be filmed in space, 60 miles above the surface of the Earth. The filming is expected to start by next year.
The drama’s plot is being kept under wraps; however, the Paradox Effect producer has hired a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) astronaut to help with the script.
The producer has revealed that romantic drama will revolve around human endurance, isolation and emotional connection.
This will mark the first ever attempt by Hollywood to film in space, just two years after Russia released The Challenge, a film shot 250 miles above the Earth’s surface, at the International Space Station (ISS).
Deadline reported that the veteran NASA astronaut, Scott Kelly, holding the record of longest single space flight, has joined the drama team as a script advisor.
Lervolino said that it’s an absolute honour to have Kelly on board, adding, “His first hand expertise will add credibility to the script.”
Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov are writing the script. Further details regarding director, cast or crew have not been revealed yet. The film’s release date is also not known.
It is expected that a rocket will be used to transport the filming team to space.
