Penn Badgley offers rare comment on modern parenting pressures
‘You’ star shares glimpse into his home life as a dad to four boys with wife Domino Kirke
Penn Badgley has recently offered rare insight into his life as a dad to four boys.
You star reflects on modern parenting pressures during an appearance on Bustle’s One Nightstand.
Penn, who is a father to four boys with wife Domino Kirke, opens up that one of his five-year-olds is in a “hybrid homeschooly vibe” as the couple prioritise a play-centric childhood for their sons.
Explaining his reason behind this homeschool decision, the Easy A actor says that his son is not in kindergarten yet and he’s homeschooled.
“We don't need to be teaching these kids as much as we try to teach,” continues the 39-year-old.
Penn notes that reading and math comprehension “is going down because we actually start too early and everybody's too”.
The Margin Call actor points out that children learn best when they are not forced into rigorous curricula during their early years.
“You sometimes hear parents in Park Slope, Brooklyn, talk about their children in the park, and it's just like, God bless 'em all, seriously, I know we're all trying our best, but the neuroses and the anxiety,” mentions Penn.
Meanwhile, the actor adds that the modern parents don’t want children to stay as children and we don’t know how to handle them.
