Prince William pens personal message after taking bold leadership role
Prince of Wales takes first major step towards an important position with key event
Prince William has officially arrived in Brazil to dive right into the events leading up to the fifth ceremony of the Earthshot Prize Award to be held on November 5 in Rio De Janeiro.
After weeks of tensions in the royal family, the Prince of Wales is finally able to focus on his passion project, to find solutions to protect the natural environment.
William, who had move into his new home before jetting off to South America, expressed his feelings for his first-ever visit to the country and to experience what the nation had to offer.
“As I depart for Rio de Janeiro, I am excited for my first visit and to experience Brazil's vibrant culture, its extraordinary biodiversity, and above all, the warmth of its people,” William wrote.
“With the world’s eyes turning to Brazil this week, there is no better place to celebrate bold climate leadership. Hosting The Earthshot Prize allows us to not only recognise those driving change, but to be inspired by them.”
He added, “When we work together with optimism and courage, a more sustainable future is within our reach,” signing off with a “W”.
Prince William has been establishing his image as a global leader in the past few months, especially with his advocacy and initiatives dedicated to saving the plant.
This a mission that William carries on from his father, King Charles, who in his youth took the bold step of talking about environmental problems when it was not considered to be a bigger issues. Leaders at the time refrained from bringing up the subject and environmentalists were mocked for highlighting major concerns.
Prince William is destined to take on the throne one day, hence Earthshot and its work is a key indicator of what he wants his reign to look like. The heir to the throne will also be attending Cop30 climate change summit in the Amazonian city of Belem, to give a keynote speech.
King Charles had made a rousing speech for the Cop28 in 2023 and now his eldest son is following in his footsteps, taking a bold leadership role for the planet.
