Pop culture’s latest drama features Taylor Swift and SZA, both of whom have talked positively about each other in the past.
The 35-year-old pop superstar and the R&B singer, also 35, have shown support for each other at award shows, and in interviews, but fans have been accusing the Kill Bill hitmaker of being a “hypocrite” on social media.
According to X users, who were equipped with screenshots, SZA appeared to “like” posts that threw shade at the Eras Tour performer.
Swift attracted criticism for her song, Eldest Daughter, from her latest album because of using words that are rooted in Black culture, and SZA seemingly agreed with the opinion that it was a racist microaggression.
As one social media user wrote, “It seems weird SZA even know Travis past pre Taylor, but we have seen she believes in conspiracy theories, she obviously saw the whole secret racist micro aggression thing, the ex is a victim on Tik Tok and obviously felt for it like many people did.”
Another slammed the Saturn songstress, “I love how fast she switched up it’s actually insane. Like she was acting all buddy buddy with Taylor once Taymania started in 2023 and talked about how she wanted to collab with her so bad but now she switched up so fast. I mean to be fair what did we expect from sza.”
Calling out SZA, another pointed out her friendship with Justin Bieber, and wrote, “why is okay for your close friend justin bieber to spread zionist propaganda and publicly make n-word jokes, but not okay for taylor swift to say the word savage in her song?”
Further fueling the feud speculations, the Snooze singer reportedly “liked” Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole’s Halloween post, which appeared to mock Swift and her fiancé.
Although the musicians have not spoken about each other or addressed the rift rumours, fans on both sides have daggers drawn on social media.
