Andrew labelled liability by King’s ally while media swarms Windsor gates
Andrew faces fall from grace as palace begins process to remove style, titles, and honours
King Charles’ friends say the monarch had little choice but to exile Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, stripping him of his Prince title and sidelining him from Royal Lodge after years of controversies that have cast a shadow over the Royal Family.
Jonathan Dimbleby, a longtime friend and biographer of the King, told the BBC that Andrew’s actions had become “consistently embarrassing” and that relocating him to Sandringham was as much about safeguarding the monarchy as it was a personal reckoning.
“His brother, this is not an easy thing for any brother to do and is effectively facing eternal exile on Sandringham Estate,” Dimbleby explained.
The move follows revelations that Andrew had paid little to no rent on Royal Lodge since moving in with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson in 2003, fueling public perceptions of entitlement and privilege.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that proceedings have been initiated to remove Andrew’s style, titles, and honours, stressing that any future investigations into the Duke would remain separate from the King and the institution.
Outside Royal Lodge, media crews gathered in force, cameras poised, while a passing delivery driver joked, “I’m delivering his leaving drinks.”
His Windsor chapter is officially over, and palace watchers are bracing for the next act in this royal saga.
