Kenya plane crash: All passengers dead after jet falls near Kwale

A plane travelling from Diani to Kichwa Tembo has crashed in Kwale County, Kenya. The country’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the crash on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

There were 12 people on board and they are all being feared dead. The aviation authority states government agencies, along with rescue services, were at the scene trying to establish the cause and determine its impact.

Kwale County Commissioner Stephen Orinde told BBC News that the aircraft was carrying tourists to the world-famous Maasai Mara game park.

Local media reports claim that the jet went down at 5: 30 a.m. local time, adding that no one on board seemed to have survived the crash.

The rescue services and aviation authorities have not yet provided any details about the nationalities or names of the tourists on board. 

Horrifying images from the crash site show debris scattered across the place.

Orinde said that the plane belonged to a safari aviation company, adding, “investigations into the cause of the crash were being hampered by bad weather”.

This isn’t the first plane crash in Kenya as a light aircraft belonging to medical charity Amref crashed in the outskirts of Nairobi in August 2025. 

Six people died and two were injured in that crash.
