Meghan Markle is taking the “kick off your shoes” mantra to royal heights.
She has revealed her secret to keeping her Montecito home grounded and it involves kicking off her shoes.
The Duchess of Sussex shared her barefoot approach to domestic life during a chat with friend Courtney Adamo at Godmothers bookstore on October 23rd, while discussing Adamo’s new book The Family Home: Inspiring Ideas for a Home Filled with Joy.
Markle explained that she loves answering the door barefoot, apron on, saying it “demystifies” the experience.
“People walk in and go, Oh, she’s in this with me,” she said. “And what are they drawn to? Your kitchen.
They come right in, and suddenly everyone's a little bit softened.” According to her, going shoeless fosters a calmer, more centered environment benefiting not only herself but also Prince Harry and their children, Archie, six, and Lilibet, four.
The Duchess of Sussex reflected on her barefoot-and-jeans approach in her 2022 Netflix series Harry & Meghan, recalling her famously casual dinner with Prince William and Kate.
“Even when Will and Kate came over, and I had met her for the first time, they came over for dinner. I remember I was in ripped jeans, and I was barefoot,” she said. “Like, I was a hugger, I’ve always been a hugger. I didn’t realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.”
Her Instagram and Netflix series With Love, Meghan offer plenty of proof that going shoeless is a lifestyle for Markle.
It turns out there’s more to her barefoot habit than style or comfort, it’s a health hack.
Sabrina Carpenter is following in Meghan Markle’s barefoot footsteps, embracing grounding as a mindfulness technique she picked up from her mother.
The singer says she often heads outside to feel the grass beneath her feet whenever life gets overwhelming.
