Lionel Messi has added another major award to his legendary career as the eminent soccer player won the 2025 Audi MLS Golden Boot for his league-leading 29 goals in 28 games.
The recent feat marks his 9th career Golden Boot and sets an MLS record with 39 goals across all competition this year.
Since joining Inter Miami in 2023, the Golden Boot marks his award for the first time.
After raising the Boot, Messi recorded two goals and assisted on another to power Inter Miami CF past Nashville SC with a decisive 3-1 victory in the first game of Round 1 playoff.
With this unprecedented win, Inter Miami took the victory in the best of three series. The team will travel to Nashville on November 1, for the knockout round of the post season.
Coach Javier Mascherano said, emphasizing on the collective team effort, "At this stage, all players are important. To reach the highest point, we are going to need everyone because that's the reality. We try to transmit and chase it to be prepared for what we get.”
According to MLS commissioner Don Garber, "I don't think we ever could have imagined that Leo would have been able to deliver for this club, for this city and for this league the way he had.”
Lionel Messi signed a three-year contract extension with Inter Miami club, thereby keeping him in South Florida through the 2028 season.
