King Charles' latest health update sparks concern among Britons: 'Collapsing'
Britons express worry and concern over the monarch's health condition
King Charles III's latest health update has sent shockwaves through the United Kingdom, with many Britons expressing worry and concern over the monarch's condition.
The 76-year-old, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February 2024, appeared thin during recent outing.
The King looked noticeably frail during a joint appearance with Prince William at London's COP30 climate summit on Thursday, October 9.
Buckhingham Palace's officials have maintained that the King is "doing well." However, an insider has admitted that the King's recent pictures have caused alarm behind the scenes.
Some royal fans have also expressed their concerns, believeing the monarch's health challenges are taking a visible toll on him.
"They're quietly preparing William to step up, fast. The illusion of perfect health is collapsing," according to a senior courtier.
"The optics are impossible to spin," one source told Radar Online.
On the other hand, some royal observers claim: "You can't Photoshop frailty. What we're seeing is the reality behind the crown, a monarch in decline."
Prince William and Harry's father resumed duties in April 2024, but palace sources say his treatment will continue in 2025.
The British monarch, who was officially crowned in 2023, followed doctors' advice to postpone public engagements for three months after beginning treatment but continued state business privately.
On September 3, during a visit to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in Smethwick, the King gave a rare personal update while speaking with cancer patient Matthew Shinda, 73, admitting: "I'm not too bad."
Shinda, who is receiving prostate cancer treatment, discussed diagnostic delays with the King.
"I'm very sorry about that, it's so frustrating," Charles replied, adding, "Half the problem is detecting it, isn't it, in time." Later, he said, "The great thing, I think, is they're getting better and better at dealing with these things. The trouble is there's always hope down the road."
