Superman star María Gabriela de Faría looked back on her painful childhood memories as she marvelled over turning out to be quite normal.
The actress played the role of villainous Angela Spica, better known as The Engineer in the film.
During the recent podcast episode of Inside of You, De Faría shared that her parents were teenagers when they had her.
She said that she has "a lot of childhood trauma," which led her to become an actor. The 33-year-old artist also clarified that she loves her parents and has taken the steps to heal.
"We've all gone to therapy. We have healed. But it was a s–t show growing up. It was a complete s–t show. They were teenagers. We were really poor," said De Faría.
"Everything that could happen to us, happened to us. And they weren’t prepared to be parents. I’m amazed that I’m alive, that my brother is alive, that we have good brains, good minds," she added.
Talking about the process of therapy, De Faría said that she, her parents and her brother are "getting to the point" where their dynamic is "kind of a normal and happy and loving family."
James Gunn Superman was released on July 10, starring David Corenswett, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult. Its sequel Man of Tomorrow is slated for release on July 9, 2027.
