Tesla expands Middle East business with cybertruck launch in Qatar
Electric vehicle maker continues regional push amid intensifying global competition
Tesla has launched Cybertruck sales in Qatar on Friday, October 3, 2025, expanding the electric vehicle maker's Middle Eastern footprint following its recent market entry into Saudi Arabia.
The announcement via social media platform X signals Tesla's strategic turn toward international growth as the company confronts slowing demand and heightened competition in its primary American and Chinese markets.
The Qatari market introduction mirrors Tesla's April, 2025 rollout in Saudi Arabia, where the automaker presented both the angular Cybertruck and updated Model Y during a Riyadh showcase event.
The company's regional strategy emphasizes digital sales channels supported by temporary showrooms, Supercharger infrastructure, and dedicated service centers to establish market presence without traditional dealership networks.
This Middle Eastern expansion represents a diplomatic milestone for CEO Elon Musk, coming years after a notable rift with Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund.
The fund had initially supported then abandoned Musk's 2018 proposal to take Tesla private, making the successful Saudi market entry symbolically significant for the automaker's leadership.
In addition to that, Qatar becomes the third Middle Eastern nation to receive Cybertruck allocations following earlier launches in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Automaker’ regional scale up occurs amid growing competition from Chinese manufacturers BYD and Zeekr, alongside U.S. rival Lucid Motors, which benefits from substantial backing by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
