As reported by Independent News, a section of the road dramatically collapsed in Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, creating a large sinkhole that disrupted traffic, damaged infrastructure and prompted evacuation.
The disturbing video shows how the incident caused chaos, when people got panicky as their cars were left teetering on the edge of the crater in the residential area of the Thailand’s Capital.
Moreover, dozens of police and city officials cordoned off the site, while a pickup truck tottered precariously on the edge of the hole.
According to the eyewitnesses, the sinkhole roughly 160ft deep, pull down the electricity power lines and exposed a bursting pipeline gushing water.
In addition to that, images of the aftermath of the incident showed how the hole was filled with water after pipes burst.
Suriyachai Raiwan, Director Bangkok disaster prevention informed that the disturbing, destructive incident is linked to the heavy rainfall and a leaked pipeline.
“The tunnel is part of an underground service being built by the state-run Mass Rapid Transit Authority, which said it would investigate the cause of the cave-in.”
“The water that eroded brought some soil that dropped down to an under-construction subway station, causing the collapse,” Suriyachai added.
Furthermore, Bangkok governor, Chadchart Sittipunt also stated that the collapse was caused by the on-going construction of an underground train station.
Luckily Thai authorities have inspected the area and informed that there were no injuries and causalities reported, while few vehicles sustained damages.
