Prince Harry releases statement after making history as royal
The Duke of Sussex proves he is 'very much' part of royal family with generous gesture
Prince Harry released a new statement after making history as a member of the royal family during a visit to Nottingham.
The Duke of Sussex made a generous donation of £1.1 million ($1.49 million) to BBC Children in Need charity in the UK, which is said to be one of the largest amounts publicly given by the British royals.
After his headline-making visit, Harry's team shared details on Sussex.com, revealing that Nottingham holds a "special place in the hearts of those who understand the true meaning of community."
The former working royal visited local organisations, showcasing commitment to supporting young people and building their brighter futures.
"These organisations collectively prove what becomes possible when communities step up, commit to change, and create opportunity in ways that create lasting impact," the statement reads.
During his address, Harry also highlighted the growing challenges due to violent activities which are affecting young people, leaving their families grieving.
Harry said, "When young people see someone who has walked their path and emerged stronger, it creates a connection that transforms lives."
The Duke of Sussex also shed light on the importance of joint efforts in order to end violence. He urged that multiple sectors of society, from "national and local government, police forces, local crime commissioners, third sector organisations, and crucially, the private sector" to step up and bring positive change.
