Prince William and Kate Middleton released a poignant message to honour a key royal as Prince Harry became part of an important day.
Monday marked the third anniversary of William and Harry’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. While the brothers are not on speaking terms with one another, they came in a surprising close proximity to each other.
As soon as Harry arrived in London, he made his way to the St. George’s Chapel to lay a wreath on his grandmother’s grave. Meanwhile, William was just 15 minutes away from his estranged brother for an official visit to the Women’s Institute at Sunningdale, accompanied by William.
Originally only William was announced to attend the royal engagement with the charity but Kate surprised the public with her last-minute decision to attend.
Kensington Palace shared a delightful video of highlights from the event, which celebrated the work of the longest reigning monarch.
“Cake and conversation to mark three years since the passing of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II [cake slice emoji],” the message read alongside the post.
“It was very special to hear from those who had met Her Late Majesty, and reflect on the impact she had within the @womensinstitute, as a longstanding member,” it continued.
“Thank you to the ladies of the Sunningdale WI for having us.”
As far as meeting with William and Harry is concerned, there seems to be no signs of the feud ending anytime soon, despite optimism surrouding a King Charles and Harry reuninion.
William is still angry and upset about Harry publicising their family disagreements and resents how the reputation of the royals were put on the line.
Moreover, given the sombre occasion and the proximity of the two, it is a sad reminder that the chasm of their ongoing battle is very deep.
