Prince Harry threatens to 'overshadow' King Charles 'legacy': Report
The Duke of Sussex is just days away from his return to the U.K., where he is tipped to reunite with Charles
King Charles’ unfortunate rift with his youngest son Prince Harry continues to captivate royal watchers five years later.
But according to a new report by Us Weekly, the 76-year-old monarch doesn’t want it to be that way. A source told the outlet that Charles wants to be remembered for more than just his family drama.
The news comes as a potential meeting between father and son looms when the Duke of Sussex attends the WellChild Awards on September 8 in just a few days. It would be the first face-to-face in nearly two years, but palace insiders warn the reunion isn’t guaranteed.
“Charles does want to meet Harry,” one royal source told Us Weekly. “He doesn’t want this falling-out to overshadow his legacy. But Harry has caused chaos and hurt, so it’s complicated.”
The King, who is continuing treatment for cancer, is said to be cautious about reopening wounds. Royal historian Marlene Koenig explained, “If there is a meeting, it will be private and more likely to be on the king’s terms rather than Harry’s.”
Signs of a thaw have surfaced in recent months.
Back in July, representatives for both camps reportedly held peace talks, with Harry even offering to share his diary to avoid scheduling clashes. Still, whether this effort translates into a royal reconciliation remains to be seen.
