6-pound Pomeranian dog scares off bear from West Vancouver home: Watch

A black bear entered a home in West Vancouver, Canada on August 4, seeking food and received the shock of its life when he was frightened by the six-pound and a three-year old Pomeranian.

Home surveillance footage captured the jaw-dropping moment when the young black bear strolled into the home’s living room, apparently aiming to explore the space and find something to eat.

Within no moment, the sense of wild intruder in the personal space was caught by the home’s pet and defender named Scout. The tiny-dog jumped into the action, barking at the bear and chasing it away.

The owner Kayla Kleine followed the dog and yelled at Scout to come to her, but the dog was shown chasing the bear even to the garden.

According to Kayla, “So then I grabbed some bear spray because I was like, ‘What am I going to do?’ And ran to the backyard and he had already chased it up the fence and the bear was on the other side of the fence and he was just barking at it.”

“I was surprised but Scout was also scared when he made it so I could see him going full speed at the bear,” she added.

“He is the best. He is super cuddly and affectionate but he is really feisty and really protective of me and my husband,” Kayla said.

The video captured on the home cameras took the internet by the storm, praising the courage of a little dog.

One user wrote on X, “Bravo little dog.”

Another wrote, “Small but brave shows courage isn’t about size but heart and spirit in any challenge.”

A third user commented, “It's not the size of the dog in the fight; it's the size of the fight in the dog.”

Besides amusement, the incident also shed light on the growing and life-threatening wildlife encounters in the area.
