Mariah Carey shocked to find out Katy Perry went to space
Katy Perry took a trip to space back in April as part of an all-female mission, joined by Gayle King and others
Mariah Carey only got to know about Katy Perry’s viral space trip, despite the buzz it generated on social media and the waves it continued to make weeks later.
The All I Want for Christmas Is You hitmaker had missed all the fun until BBC Radio host Scott Mills revealed it to her during her recent appearance on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show that Perry, 40, actually went to the space.
"Would you fancy going to space? You know like Katy Perry did," the host asked prompting a surprised response from Carey, 56. "Did she go to space?"
"Where'd she go?" she asked, clearly unaware, as Mills, 52, seemed sceptical about the exact details, a crew member off-camera shouted, "she just into orbit and back."
"Into orbit and back? She was, like, floating in the... and this is true?" the We Belong Together songstress asked, to which the host reassured, "Yeah, I have not made this up. This is true."
"Wow. Alright Katy," a seemingly shocked Carey said, adding, "I’m not mad at her. That’s pretty amazing."
Mills then asked, "Would you do it?" referring to Perry’s 11-minute trip into space and back.
"I think I’ve done enough," Carey quipped, leading both host and guest to share a laugh.
Just in case anyone is living in their own bubble like Carey, back in April, Perry, who ended her nine year long relationship with Orlando Bloom, along with journalist Gayle King, philanthropist Lauren Sánchez, went to space aboard a Blue Origin rocket.
Activist Amanda Nguyen, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and film producer Kerianne Flynn also joined the all-female mission.
