King Charles has been dealt a significant blow as Grenada officially dropped its oath of allegiance to the British monarch.

The move marks a growing trend among several Commonwealth countries considering the removal of the King as their head of state-following in the footsteps of Barbados, which became a republic in 2021.

According to the reports, state officials in Grenada are no longer obliged to pledge allegiance to the King or his successors. Instead, they will now swear loyalty solely to their own country.

This historic shift was implemented last Friday, coinciding with Emancipation Day, celebrations across the Caribbean. The day commemorates the abolition of slavery in the British Empire in 1834.

Back in 2023, Grenada's Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, had expressed intentions to transform the island nation into a republic, removing King Charles as head of state.

As of last week, officials now take the oath to 'Grenada' rather than 'His Majesty' King Charles the Third, His Heirs and Successors.'

The development comes amid the release of a new explosive biography titled: The Rise and Fall of the Yorks by Andrew Lownie.

The book has sparked fresh controversy with explosive revelations about King Charles' brother, Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

According to the book, the breakdown in relationships within the royal family stems from Andrew's hedonistic lifestyle, controversial friendships, and secretive money-making ventures,' and alleged inappropriate remarks about Princess Kate-a mystery that has yet to be fully explained.
