Sarah Ferguson reveals promise she made to Queen Elizabeth
Why Sarah Ferguson is sticking with Prince Andrew after multiple scandals?
Sarah Ferguson has been a constant presence in Prince Andrew's life, even after their divorce in 1996.
Despite the scandal surrounding his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the subsequent sex abuse allegations, Ferguson has stood firmly by her ex-husband's side.
The Duchess of York and Prince Andrew's marriage was marked by challenges, including Andrew's naval career, which kept him away from home for extended periods.
According to a recent biography, Andrew spent only 42 days at home with Ferguson in one year, prioritizing his naval duties and royal responsibilities over his marriage.
The couple's tumultuous relationship was also marred by allegations of infidelity, with Andrew reportedly having multiple affairs and Ferguson rumored to have had an affair with Texas oilman Steve Wyatt.
Despite their divorce, Ferguson and Prince Andrew have maintained a close relationship, with Ferguson residing at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, where Andrew lives.
In an interview, Ferguson explained that she stays at Royal Lodge when she's in the UK because it provides a sense of stability and familiarity. "I travel a lot and I've always been able to make wherever I am home," she said.
"When I'm in the UK, I'm lucky enough to stay at Royal Lodge. I wouldn't call it my home as that would be presumptuous."
Ferguson has consistently expressed her support for Prince Andrew, describing their relationship as an "extraordinary friendship."
In 2017, she sparked rumours of a romantic reunion, stating that she and Andrew "never really left each other." She emphasised their strong bond, saying, "I think the love I had for him then, is the love I still have for him now. We are the happy ever after, it's just not about marriage. It's more about this extraordinary friendship we have."
In a recent interview, Ferguson revealed that she made a promise to the late Queen Elizabeth II to support Prince Andrew during difficult times.
"I said to his mum before she died, 'I will be there for him, I will help him on his journey,'" Ferguson said.
