Kate, William's presence helps Windsor Castle reign over Buckingham Palace
King Charles also spends more time at the Windsor residence
Princess Kate and Prince William's presence helps Windsor Castle reign over Buckingham in visitor numbers.
Although Buckingham Palace has long stood as a symbol of the British monarchy, it appears it's no longer the top destination among fans.
According to the latest annual report from the Royal Collection Trust, Windsor Castle outshone Buckingham Palace in visitor numbers over the past years, breaking records in the process.
During the 2024-2025 period, Windsor Castle welcomed 1,367,000 guests, while Buckingham Palace drew only 683,000-less than half that figure, The Mirror reported.
The notable gap follows King Charles' decision to discontinue a longstanding tradition at the Palace.
It is noteworthy that Windsor Castle enjoys proximity to the Prince and Princess of Wales, who live nearby with their three children-a detail that enhances the castle's appeal to royal fans.
Unlike Buckingham Palace, which closes to the public at certain times, Windsor Castle remains open year-round, making it a more accessible choice for tourists and royal fans.
King Charles also spends more time at the Windsor residence-which was once favourite of the late Queen Elizabeth.
