Sami Sheen provides update on mental health and OCD

Sami Sheen is opening up about how living with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) impacts her daily life in ways that are far from what many people assume. 

In a candid TikTok video shared on July 27, the 21-year-old daughter of Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards described how deeply the disorder affects her routines and thoughts, particularly when it comes to something as basic as eating.

Sheen expressed frustration over how people casually misuse the term OCD to describe being neat or organized. 

“All right. Well, I’m so OCD,” she began, “that even if I buy something from the grocery store that day and I read the expiration date over and over and over and over and over again, somehow I will convince myself it's a fake expiration date, and it's actually expired a year ago.” 

Her voice underscored just how exhausting and real her experience with OCD is, especially when it spirals into the fear of becoming “violently ill” from food she logically knows is still safe. 

“So I have to throw it away and starve,” she added.

Her video sparked a wave of support from viewers who either related to her struggle or appreciated her honesty. 

One commenter wrote, “A lot of people genuinely have no idea how disrupting OCD is to LIFE,” highlighting how misunderstood the condition often is. 

Another user chimed in with their own experience, saying they can’t eat sandwich parts touched by their fingers. Sami replied, “oh same i thought everyone did that,” showing how validation can bring unexpected comfort.

According to the Mayo Clinic, OCD involves a cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that can significantly interfere with day-to-day functioning.

Sami’s story reflects just how emotionally draining and isolating this disorder can be, even when it’s not always visible from the outside.
