Sarah Ferguson gives Meghan’s caped gown a 2025 spin
Meghan wore it first, but Fergie just gave it a future ready glow up
Sarah Ferguson stole the spotlight in Cannes on Thursday, turning heads in a striking emerald green caped gown by London based designer Safiyaa.
Attending the third Knights of Charity Gala at the Château de la Croix des Gardes, the Duchess of York proved once again that classic elegance and bold fashion can go hand in hand.
She wowed in the dramatic design which featured sculptural, twisting sleeves that revealed a surprise pop of hot pink lining.
The unexpected colour contrast gave the look a vibrant, modern edge, while perfectly complementing her signature auburn locks.
The Duchess of York complemented the bold look with a matching hot pink clutch by Furla, elegant drop earrings, a silver bangle style bracelet, and a sleek black strapped watch.
This year’s guest list included U.S. singer-songwriter Robin Thicke and champagne house founder Gregory Verlet.
Fashion watchers couldn’t help but draw comparisons between Sarah’s regal cape moment and Meghan Markle’s iconic cape style gowns worn throughout her royal tenure.
Meghan’s green Emilia Wickstead dress for the 2020 Commonwealth Day Service, the ivory silk number during her Morocco tour in 2019, and the sleek black Stella McCartney cape worn to Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral in 2022 have all cemented her place as a cape dress icon.
