Nick Jonas gets real about how health crisis helped family to reunite
Nick Jonas' dad has been diagnosed with colon cancer
Nick Jonas shared that his family grew closer after his father, Kevin Jonas Sr, went through a cancer scare.
The singer's dad was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017 and has been in remission since 2018.
Now looking back to that time, Nick said the tough period brought their family together in an unexpected way.
The 32-year-old singer shared with PEOPLE: "[The] more emotionally challenging periods really test your endurance.
"But [our dad] was just such a champion and so brave through our whole process. It [was] with such thoughtfulness that I think it helped all of us a lot and provided us with the encouragement we needed when in fact we were just trying to support him.
"Everyone has their own experience too in life's challenging moments and I'm so grateful that we have gotten to the other side of that and become closer as a family and stronger."
The Jonas Brothers kicked off their JONAS20 Living the Dream Tour this year and Nick said that their old songs still hit the right note and feel just as good now as they did back then.
