Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson made a heartfelt red carpet debut on Wednesday night, showing off their quiet connection as they supported each other at the Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City.
The couple, who recently confirmed their romance, walked hand-in-hand at Gotham Hall, where Megan hosted the black-tie fundraiser in honour of her late parents, Holly Thomas and Joseph Pete III.
A video of the two at the event captured just how in tune they were with each other, according to body language expert and professional lip reader Nicola Hickling.
“There’s an unspoken tenderness between them,” Hickling told Page Six while analyzing the footage. “[They] both seem mindful of the press and each other, reading cues, adjusting tone, offering subtle support.”
At one point, amid the flashing cameras, Megan appeared to check in on her date.
“You okay, babe?” she asked, to which Thompson reportedly replied, “Everything’s alright, babe.”
Hickling said the NBA star went on to reassure her again with, “It’s alright, baby… I’m comfortable,” and sweetly added, “You look beautiful.”
The compliment seemed to catch Megan off guard in the most charming way. As seen in the video, she blushed and briefly covered her face while giggling.
“I’m tryna keep my face,” she told Thompson, according to Hickling — a moment that prompted a smile from him.
Hickling also observed a lighthearted exchange between the couple during the cocktail hour when a song started playing in the background.
“This is my song,” Thompson reportedly said, flashing a smile that, according to Hickling, “revealed an effort to break tension and ground the moment in shared familiarity.”
Later, when a photographer asked, “Sir, can we get a solo of Megan?” Thompson didn’t hesitate.
“Of course,” he said, stepping to the side. Megan, surprised, asked, “Babe, where you going to?” and Thompson replied, “Gonna wait on the side.”
Before parting for solo photos, the couple shared a quick kiss, one that drew “awws” from reporters nearby.
“Their kiss is short and sweet, a small but meaningful display of connection,” Hickling said, adding, “What we witness isn’t showy, it’s two public figures navigating privacy under bright lights. You get the sense they’re trying to be open, but on their own terms.”
Their presence together at the gala was more than just a red carpet appearance, it was a glimpse into a budding relationship built on mutual respect, warmth, and care in the midst of the spotlight.
