Palace unveils unseen historic moments as King Charles achieves milestone

King Charles Office released an important update as the monarch is taking a big step for the monarchy with a key State Visit on Tuesday.

Right before President Emmanuel Macron of France and Mrs. Macron to begin their State Visit to the UK, the Buckingham Palace unveiled some historic State Visits that have taken place at the Windsor Castle over the years.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will be hosting their first Windsor Castle visit as the Palace undergoes crucial repairs.

13 State Visits were highlighted, which took place during the reign of the late Queen Elizabeth.

“The King and Queen will host the President and Mrs. Macron at Windsor Castle, due to the Buckingham Palace Reservicing Programme,” the statement from the Palace read. “Whilst there have been State Visits at Windsor Castle in the past, the last one to be held there was in 2014 when the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, visited.”

The Palace listed the following visits:

• Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh with King Hussein and Queen Dina of Jordan at Windsor Castle. Also in attendance are Princess Anne and Prince Charles, 1955.
• State Banquet in St George’s Hall, 2009.
• A watercolour of Queen Victoria and Emperor Napoleon III of France at the bottom of the Grand Staircase in Windsor Castle, 1855.
• Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh with The Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik of Denmark, 1974.
• German President Roman Herzog, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, inspects the Guard of Honour, 1998.
• Queen Elizabeth II and Jordan’s King Abdullah II seated in an open-topped carriage, 2001.
• Queen Elizabeth II with Queen Margrethe of Denmark at the arrival Pavillion, 2000.
• The Queen welcomes her 84-year-old cousin, King Olav of Norway, 1988.
• A State carriage arrives at Windsor Castle, 2008.
• Queen Elizabeth II speaks with the President of the Republic of India Prathibha Devi Singh Patil, 2009.
• Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al-Missned, the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall review a Guard of Honour, 2010.
• President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins is greeted by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, 2014.
• Queen Elizabeth II with the President of Poland, Lech Walesa, and his wife Danuta, 1991.

The update comes as France becomes the first European nation for a State Visit with full pomp and show following Brexit.

The King is expected to speak about unity and shared values during the visit, which may be one of the most key events to take place during his reign.
