Prince William showed his support for Welsh football as he wished the Wales women’s national team good luck ahead of their historic UEFA Women’s Euros debut this Saturday.
Taking to social media in a heartfelt gesture, the Prince of Wales patron of the Football Association posted a message in fluent Welsh, saying: "Best of luck to Wales as they make their Women’s Euros debut. A proud and historical moment for Welsh football."
He signed off with the Welsh phrase "Pob lwc!" meaning "Good luck," followed by his initial, W.
Despite the enthusiasm and spirit, Wales faced a tough match against the Netherlands, ultimately succumbing to a 0-3 defeat in this year’s European championships.
Earlier in the week, William also paid a visit to St. George’s Park in Burton upon Trent, where he met with England’s Lionesses to offer encouragement ahead of their crucial clash against France.
The Lionesses fought hard, scoring one goal, but were narrowly beaten after Sandy Baltimore secured a second for the French side.
Next Sunday, Wales and England will face off once again in an eagerly anticipated match at St. Gallen, adding another exciting chapter to their growing football rivalry.
The heir to the throne, Prince William, is a passionate football fan and a familiar face at matches, often spotted supporting his favourite club, Aston Villa.
Just this past April, he was seen alongside his son, Prince George, in France, cheering on Aston Villa during a thrilling Champions League quarter final clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
