King Charles hosts special guest at Windsor day after returning from tour
King Charles III hosted the Sultan of Oman at Windsor Castle after returning from a week-long trip to Scotland
King Charles wasted no time getting back to work after returning from Royal Week in Scotland.
Just a day after his homecoming, the monarch hosted a high-profile guest at Windsor Castle on Friday, July 4 — His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman.
The two leaders, who share a warm history, reunited inside the castle for tea and talks, marking the King’s first official engagement since his recent trip north with Queen Camilla.
The royal family's Instagram page confirmed the visit, sharing a photo of Charles and the Sultan together inside Windsor’s grand corridors.
"The Sultan of Oman visited The King at Windsor Castle this afternoon and remained to tea," the caption read.
Though the meeting was part of the Sultan’s private visit to the UK, it wasn’t purely social. According to an Omani news agency, the two royals took time to reflect on the strong historical ties between their countries and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation moving forward.
King Charles has visited Oman several times over the past two decades and welcomed Sultan Haitham at his coronation in 2023. Friday’s meeting highlighted not just their ongoing diplomatic relationship, but the personal bond they’ve fostered over the years.
