Prince William seemingly took a bold step as the future king invited an important guest to honour their work at the Kensington Palace.

The Prince of Wales, who has increasingly taken on a more prominent role as a global statesman during King Charles’s reign, expressed his concerns about an ongoing conflict as he conducted an engagement with aid workers.

The Kensington Palace on Friday released a statement to reaffirm how William has been committed to focus on highlighting the humanitarian crisis.

“The Prince of Wales continues to follow the humanitarian situation in the Middle East closely,” the statement read.

Aid workers from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) met with William to discuss the work that they have been doing during the challenging environment.

Prince William previously made a powerful statement about the conflict, which was an unprecedented move from a member of the royal family. The royals are known to stay out of international conflicts and remain neutral.

The move comes after William abandoned royal protocol as he made a plea to “end to the fighting as soon as possible”. In February, during his visit to the Red Cross in London, he said, “There is a desperate need for increased humanitarian support to Gaza. It’s critical that aid gets in and hostages are released.”

At the time, sources told The Guardian that the heir to the throne had thought “long and hard” before making his intervention, knowing what they could mean given role of the royal in global politics.

The statement from Kensington Palace also comes at the heels of a much-anticipated visit by U.S. President Donald Trump in a second state visit. King Charles will be hosting Trump at Buckingham Palace after the UK Government reportedly “went against the King’s wishes” given the tensions concerning Canada.

Trump had previously made a speech about making Canada its 51st state, a country that Charles is the head of state of, which threatened the sovereignty of the nation. However, the King had asserted that the “True North is indeed strong and free”.
