King Charles, Queen Camilla mark major milestone with new message
Buckingham Palace shares update after King, Queen support special cause
King Charles and Queen Camilla marked an important milestone as the royal couple promotes a cause they feel strongly about.
Buckingham Palace shared a delightful video of the monarchs enjoying an extraordinary performance as they celebrated the silver jubilee of the Royal Drawing School.
In the celebrations held on Wednesday, Charles and Camilla visited the exhibition for the school just a day before it opened on Thursday.
“Celebrating 25 years of the Royal Drawing School!” the message read alongside the footage.
“Founded in 2000 by The King and artist Catherine Goodman, the School champions drawing as a vital tool for creativity – nurturing emerging and established artists across disciplines, from painting and design to film, architecture, and performance.”
The statement continued, “To mark this milestone, the Royal Drawing School are proud to present The Power of Drawing – a free summer exhibition celebrating the central role of drawing in contemporary creative practice.”
The exhibition features works from over 25 renowned artists – including David Hockney, Tracey Emin, Charlie Mackesy, and more – alongside drawings by 25 alumni from the past 25 years.
The school, which was founded by Charles, the then-Prince of Wales, has made a significant contribution to art education. The King himself indulges in painting and takes a keen interest in architecture.
Over the years, Charles has visited the school many times to witness the works of the students and how they have benefitted from the tuition. Meanwhile, Camilla is an avid reader and also enjoys art and music.
