Meghan Markle receives warning as Duchess of Sussex plots 'expensive' plan for brand's future
Meghan Markle has taken a deep dive into her building her brand as she fiercely expands into massive business venture after launching As Ever.
Apart from her lifestyle brand, Meghan also has an accompanying show on Netflix (renewed for a second and third season) and she wrapped the first season of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder.
The Duchess of Sussex is now eyeing a big move for her brand as a report by The Sun revealed she is trademarking As Ever for “hospitality services” – suggesting plans to open a line of hotels and restaurants.
Despite stepping down from her position as a senior working royal in 2020, Prince Harry’s wife had proudly flaunted her royal titles, raising eyebrows at the Palace.
Now, as Meghan plots her biggest venture yet, King Charles will not tolerate another ‘slip-up’ and take action if his daughter-in-law crosses the line, per the monarch’s former royal butler Grant Harrold.
He told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that there is only one reason why Charles would intervene is Meghan was “using her title for something”.
“It’s possible that they could step in,” he said. “But it wouldn’t be King Charles phoning up personally, it would likely go through Harry.”
The ex-staffer went onto add that it was a risk as from “a hospitality point of view, that’s going to cost a lot of money, and then she has to run it”. He noted, “If it’s a failure, that’s going to be a very expensive failure.”
He continued, “It’s difficult to know when you hear these stories, because why would you want to have the hassle of having a hotel. I can understand she wants to have a retreat or something because she’s into wellness, but a hotel doesn’t really make sense with her brand.”
