The Duke of Sussex has reportedly approved the royal guest list for the upcoming Invictus Games in UK
Prince Harry is ‘hopeful’ as he makes an attempt to mend broken bridges with his estranged brother Prince William and once-beloved sister-in-law Kate Middleton.
The Duke of Sussex has reportedly approved the royal guest list for the upcoming Invictus Games, due to be held in Birmingham in July 2027. Sources have revealed that the emails will soon be sent to the secretaries of King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
It is unclear how many other royals will be receiving an invite.
While the move is being dubbed as a ‘reconciliation’ offer and an ‘olive branch’, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams believes that Harry would be disappointed by William and Kate’s reaction.
“From what we know now, it would seem certain that William and Catherine would not attend,” the royal expert wrote in Express.co.uk. “The photo opportunities which transpired would be of immeasurable use to the Sussexes brand.”
William has not been on speaking terms with his estranged brothers since nearly three years. Although, some reports have claimed that Kate, who had been working as a mediator between the warring siblings, has now given up on her brother-in-law following his outburst during the BBC interview last month.
Moreover, the future king was left furious when he discovered Harry and Meghan’s plans to use Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, to find their way back in the royal fold, per The Daily Beast.
“It has been reported that they have included the HRH titles on their children’s passports and would like them to have the choice to become working royals, though this is not a scenario which the King, or William, is likely to contemplate,” Fitzwilliams remarked.
He noted that the Sussexes “have clearly no desire to return to royal duties” but would want to be invited to an occasional high-profile royal event. Hence, William has no plans to entertain the invitation from Prince Harry.
