Prince Edward's Canada visit to mark regiment's 150th anniversary and engage with communities
Prince Edward is set to visit Canada from June 25 to July 2, 2025, in a bid to strengthen ties with the nation and participate in significant events.
This trip comes on the heels of King Charles and Queen Camilla's recent visit to Canada, where the monarch delivered a landmark speech at the opening of parliament.
During his visit, the Duke of Edinburgh, will attend celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of the Prince Edward Island Regiment, a unit he has served as Colonel-in-Chief since 2005.
The commemorations will include a Freedom of the City parade, showcasing the regiment's rich history and contributions to the nation.
Prince Edward's itinerary includes meetings with First Nations communities, youth organizations, and public sector services.
On Prince Edward Island, he will visit the Abegweit First Nation and participate in an education forum with representatives from all four Atlantic provinces. He will also meet with youth organisations on the island, highlighting his commitment to supporting young people.
In Toronto, the Prince will visit the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment, where he serves as Colonel-in-Chief, as well as the naval reserve unit HMCS York and CFB Trenton air base.
He will meet community leaders and emerging youth leaders, recognizing the service of public sector organisations, including the Toronto Police Service's Marine Unit and Emergency Task Force.
On July 1, Prince Edward will attend Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa and visit the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in his capacity as Honorary Deputy Commissioner.
He will also celebrate the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, a program that has been operating in Canada since 1963 and equips young people to reach their full potential.
