Buckingham Palace releases historic photos hours before Trooping the Colour
King Charles' office shares important facts ahead of royal family's reunion
King Charles and the senior royals are set to reunite at Trooping the Colour today, June 14. But before the key appearance, Buckingham Palace shared iconic photos from the past.
Taking to Instagram, the royal family shared details of the monarch's sightings at the significant royal gathering over the years.
Charles, when he was the Prince of Wales appeared with the late mother Queen Elizabeth and the late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, in the 90s.
The monarch's spokesperson said in a new statement, "This year marks the third Trooping the Colour of His Majesty’s reign."
The first photo featured, "Prince Charles, aged 3, attends his first Trooping the Colour in 1951, riding in a carriage with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and aunt, Princess Margaret."
The second picture showcased, "Prince Charles, held by The Queen as he stands on a chair, waves to his mother, Princess Elizabeth, as she takes the salute in Buckingham Palace forecourt following the Trooping the Colour ceremony in 1951."
"Princess Elizabeth, in her uniform as Colonel of the Grenadiers, salutes as she returns to Buckingham Palace from the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Horse Guards Parade, also in 1951," in the third image shared on the royal family's Instagram page.
In 1975, the then-Prince of Wales rides in the parade for the first time, as Colonel of the Welsh Guards.
The last photo showcased the King rides at Trooping the Colour in 2023; His Majesty’s first as Sovereign.
