Prince Harry, Meghan Meghan recruit PR expert behind royal family drama
The Sussexes have made a move 'beyond belief' amid growing tensions within the royal family
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest PR hire knows a thing or two about royal drama.
Emily Robinson, who has been appointed as the Sussexes' new Director of Communications, previously handled global publicity for The Crown — the Netflix drama known for its highly dramatised portrayal of Harry’s family.
The Mail reports the Duke and Duchess were fully aware of Robinson’s Crown ties before hiring her.
A source told the outlet, “She was always very charming and supportive to [creator of The Crown] Peter Morgan and all the actors in The Crown.”
Robinson’s tenure from seasons three through six covered some of the show’s most talked‑about storylines. Viewers saw depictions of Prince Harry in Nazi fancy dress, Princess Diana’s Panorama interview, and even imagined scenes of Diana’s ghost speaking to Queen Elizabeth II.
Those episodes sparked debate about the series’ portrayal of real events.
Critics say hiring Robinson sends a signal that the Sussexes have no plans to mend fences with the rest of the royal family.
One insider told The Mail it seemed “almost beyond belief that Harry and Meghan would hire someone straight from The Crown,” especially given the “circumstances” of growing family tensions.
Harry has defended The Crown in the past.
In a 2021 interview with James Corden he noted, “They don’t pretend to be news. It’s fiction, but it’s loosely based on the truth… I’m way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself.”
The Duke once again addressed the controversial show win an interview with Stephen Colbert, joking that he obsessively fact-checks everything.
