Prince William is heading back to work with a cause close to his heart.
Kensington Palace confirmed that the Prince of Wales will visit Colorifix on June 19. And he won’t be alone.
Joining him for the visit is Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett, who also serves on the Earthshot Prize Council.
Colorifix is a groundbreaking sustainable dye company that was named an Earthshot Prize finalist in 2023.
Founded in 2016, Colorifix has revolutionised fabric dyeing by using DNA sequencing to replicate colours found in nature, which helps cut out toxic chemicals and slashing water waste. Traditional dyeing methods waste up to five trillion litres of water a year, but Colorifix's process dramatically reduces environmental impact by relying on microbes to produce pigments through fermentation.
During their visit, William and Blanchett will tour Colorifix’s labs to see each step of the process, from identifying DNA codes in natural organisms to applying the eco-friendly dye to fabric. They'll also get a presentation on the technology’s wide-reaching environmental benefits, including lower energy use and carbon emissions.
The company now works with brands like H&M and Pangaia and operates across Europe and India.
