Buckingham Palace issues statement as Prince Edward marks historic milestone
King Charles appointed his brother Prince Edward for key royal engagement
King Charles' office released a statement after Prince Edward marked a historic milestone during his latest royal engagement.
On June 11, the official Instagram page of the royal family released photos of the Duke of Edinburgh performing a key task assigned by the monarch.
Edward celebrated 100 years of Elstree Film Studios by paying a visit to the iconic home of Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
According to Palace's spokesperson, "On site, at one of Britain’s oldest and most prestigious film and television studios, His Royal Highness met the cast of @BBCEastEnders including long-serving actors Michelle Collins and Adam Woodyatt, before going behind-the-scenes on the set of ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’, scheduled for release in 2027."
It is important to note that Prince Edward and his wife, Duchess Sophie, are dubbed key assets to the royal family as they stepped up to perform more active tasks, especially after King Charles' cancer diagnosis.
It has been said earlier by several royal experts that the future King William will also give key roles to the Edinburghs as they quietly and wholeheartedly support the monarchy.
