Princess Anne just proved again that duty comes first.
Rather than mark her upcoming 75th birthday with a grand royal celebration, the Princess Royal opted to spend the day surrounded by the people she values most: those working in the charitable sector.
Anne hosted over 200 representatives from 111 of her patronages at Buckingham Palace last Thursday (June 5), and she didn't forget to thank her brother King Charles for letting her use Buckingham Palace for the special event.
The Palace shared its own statement, writing on social media, "The event discussed key topics such as challenges facing the sector, public trust in charities, and the opportunities and risks presented by new technologies.
Anne, known for her no-fuss attitude and relentless work ethic, spent more than two hours greeting guests and thanking them for their efforts.
“I'm not here because this was my choice,” she told the attendees. “You very kindly asked me to become patron of your organisations, so it's an honour for me to have all of you here.”
The event wrapped with a private reception in the Picture Gallery, where guests enjoyed music from the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra — yet another of Anne’s many patronages.
A palace source summed it up: “She didn’t want to do anything for her birthday but bring her charities together.”
