King Charles furious as monarch forced to cancel age-old royal tradition
Royal family receives sad news about 'favourite' tradition after major setback
King Charles took severe measure for his royal estate after he received unpleasant news about a major blunder.
The royal family is known for upholding its key traditions but Charles is now considering to cancel the controversial hunting tradition this year, which has existed in the royal household for generations.
The Sandringham estate in Norfolk holds the annual Boxing Day shoot, which sees members of the royal family hunt pheasants and partridges.
However, a report by The Sun revealed that due to a “series of blunders”, the numbers of the birds have dwindled notably at the Scottish estate, leaving Charles in fury.
“It was a total cock-up. No birds, no bang, just red faces,” the source told the outlet. “The King wasn’t having it.”
The source revealed that the long-serving gamekeeper was fired from his position after the report was revealed. “Let’s just say he’s well and truly plucked off,” the insider said.
They also noted that given the circumstances, it is likely that the event would be called off this year.
While the tradition is a family favourite, the event is strongly opposed by animal rights campaigners, especially with the notion of children taking part in it.
Meanwhile, the Charles, who believes in sustainable practices and also loves the hunting tradition has reportedly been “reluctant to release birds from breeders to get numbers up”.
It is possible that the King ends up calling off the event altogether, much to the monarch’s dismay.
